Quilter’s Trading Post opened on the 1st of June 2007 with Pam and Emma (mother & daughter) at the helm. Pam started her sewing career at an early age and even made her own clothes as a teenager – known for dancing the night away in a dress she made herself! Pam has worked in many different fields including retail, agricultural, scientific, electronic, and of course creative.

Emma grew up watching Pam sew and fondly remembers her first sewing set made by Pam. After years of working retail, and with qualifications in Art and Graphic Design, Pam’s purchase of a  longarm quilting machine and an idea to open a patchwork and quilting shop was an opportunity Emma couldn’t pass up. Following the success of their collection of Appliqué, Soft Toy, Bag and Quilt patterns and books, Pam and Emma made the decision to close the shop in 2019 and focus their time designing and creating.

Having closed their doors in March to all visits due to Covid-19, Pam and Emma have been designing new patterns, kits and books almost exclusively for Hochanda, and thanks to postal and courier services, the quilting service is going strong with Jayne running the two automated Gammill quilting machines.

In this exclusive video tutorial, the talented Pam shares with us a few different tips and techniques for creating a beautiful effect on your next quilt project.
