First things first, thank you so much for all of your lovely feedback about our first Crafters’ Spotlight, we were over the moon with your positive reaction!

For those of you who missed it, we have started a new blog called Crafters’ Spotlight where we turn the spotlight on you, our wonderful crafters in the Hochanda family! We’re now very excited to share with you the next instalment… Read on to find out who’s in the spotlight!

Sylvia Allan

We’re delighted to announce that Sylvia Allan is in the spotlight! Having been part of the Hochanda Family for a while, Sylvia is always engaging with her fellow crafters on the Crafting with Hochanda Facebook group. We thought it was time to put her in the spotlight and celebrate all the wonderful things that she’s made! We chatted to her about her crafting experiences and more – read on!

Even as a young child I was always good at drawing and painting. I dabbled in other crafts over the years but got seriously into crafting about 8 years ago after a friend introduced me to die cutting. Watching crafting programmes, I just thought ‘this is for me!’.

Over the years seeing all the different demonstrations I have progressed into most types of crafting – from mixed media, stamping and paper crafting to working with clay and of course my first love of drawing and painting! Recently, I’ve been mixing stamping with my own drawings, creating little story books.

My tip for any crafter, whether they’re a newbie or experienced crafter, is to enjoy the journey of whatever craft suits you and grow with it.

I love the diversity of companies with their different products that Hochanda bring to us crafters. There is something for everybody, with amazing offers and, of course, you absolutely HAVE to be a Freedom member if you want extra discounts on more fantastic products.

I’m always asked who my favourite suppliers are… but where does one begin? There are far too many favourites to pick from!

Last year I was lucky enough to win a Dream Day at Hochanda Studios and was greeted by a very friendly and welcoming group. In fact, all the staff are so friendly and the atmosphere throughout the building is welcoming and relaxed – they made me feel right at home! To go behind the scenes and see how things operate in the studios was really interesting and informative. It was also a real honour meeting the ‘faces’ of Hochanda that we see on our TVs! The day finished with a crafting workshop with the wonderful Leonie. Even though I’ve already been the once, if an opportunity came up to go again, I wouldn’t miss it! ~ Sylvia Allan

We love the Dream Days, seeing those lucky members of the Hochanda Family with big smiles on their faces, as if they have been transported back to being children in a sweet shop!

Check out some of Sylvia’s amazing creations below!

Congratulations, Sylvia! We can’t wait to see who’s next in the spotlight!
