Welcome back Hochanda family, we hope you are ready for your latest dose of crafty goodness! Today we bring you a fantastic tutorial from John Next Door, who is showing you some fascinating tips on monochrome stamping and colouring. Dive in and get your stamp on!
Step 1
Stamp your chosen image (John used the mill house clear stamp from Two Jays) onto white stamping card using vintage sepia versatile ink.
Step 2
Place some walnut Izink dye ink onto a smooth surface (John used the lid of his press to impress stamp platform) and using a water brush (crafts too small water brush) dilute half of the ink and gently colour the stamped image.
Step 3
Take the brush directly into the ink, picking it up (this gives a darker shade than the watered-down version). Add highlights in the darker shade where required. John used the darker shade around the edges and the top.
Step 4
Add a wash of colour to ground the image. This helps to build up the world around your stamp, and you can use this to help your stamp stand out more – it is really about creating a depth to your piece which will complement the main article.
Step 5
For your black and white one, ink the stamp in black versafine ink and stamp off onto scrap card. Stamp the stamp with the reins of the black ink over the stamped image – this brings the image to the front.
Step 6
Finally, mat and layer onto a card blank.
