I’ve been having some fun recently with some Spellbinders dies and I have been brimming with inspiration. Instead of making an obvious card, I wanted to make something a little different. I am lucky to have lots of beautiful designer papers in my craft room at Hochanda and I really love vintage journals and art books, and how you can tie them up with lace and string. So here is an example of a wrap folio I made, alongside an outer pocket to keep it in.
Ingredients:

CREATE A WRAP FOLIO
Start with a 12” by 12” black mount board and cut it in half. It will measure at 12” by 6”. Keep it aside and cut 1 x 4.5” by 6” and 2 x 3.5” by 6” with the remaining half of board. Cut a 12” by 6” of pretty paper, and adhere it with double sided tape to the 12” by 6 piece.
You can then place the other mount board on top and score between each one to create the folds in your folio. Adhere all the panels apart from the first one. This one will be used to achieve a die cut shape before being adhered to the first panel.
For this, I used Spellbinders ‘Birds of a Feather’ I then used the same die to cut different colours of feathers and adhered them inside the die cut shapes. Stick a different coloured die cut to the middle panel and cut a tag die shape with pretty paper and mount it to some black card before adhering it to the third panel. I used Spellbinders ‘Tag you’re it’ and then used the black feather die to place on top of the tag. I decorated the edges with lace and used some affirmation words to each panel.
Turn the project over and cut decorative paper to fit each panel. For this side I used the Spellbinders ‘Leaf me Alone’ and cut two different pieces with different coloured paper and layered them on top of each other before sticking to the bottom corner of the first panel. I included Spellbinder ‘Badge of Honour’ and mounted it on black card before sticking it to the centre of the first panel before I embellished it with the little flowers from ‘Leaf me Alone’.
On the second panel I placed a black feather and some other embellishments and, applied the same on the third panel with a lighter shade of paper. In the corner I created a small tag from ‘Badge of Honour’. I added more affirmation words and used lace to decorate some of the pages, folded it together and tied some peach embroidery string around it.
HOW TO MAKE A POCKET
I made a little pocket to keep the folio in, by cutting some more mount board 7 ½” by 8” and adhered a strip of card to the bottom 8 ½” by 4”. Fold the corners and stick it to create a pocket.
Cut some designer paper to fit each element and decorate by adhering a strip of lace to the top and bottom, and tie some matching string around, to finish it off
Voila, you have a folio with matching pocket!
By mixing and matching different dies with designer papers, you can create some lovely little projects. You could make a bigger folio or journal just by adding more pages to it, and the theme can change depending on what dies you use. I hope I have inspired you to make one for yourself.
