At Hochanda, we love bringing the best exciting crafts to your TV and computer screens – and today the focus is on felting!

What is felting?

Felt is a textile that is produced by matting and condensing fibres together. It can be made of natural fibres like wool, or synthetic fibres such as acrylic. According to, Felting is the “simple process of separating, tangling, and relocking animal fibres found in items such as yarn or wool”. Felt can vary in terms of fibre content, size, density, thickness, colour etc. Felt is used everywhere and for many different purposes – from the automotive industry, to musical instruments, to construction and most importantly – crafting! Felt is easy to work with and it is cheap, so it is a favourite amongst crafters.
