Time to play!
Hello again everyone and welcome back to my next Hochanda Blog. This has been very different for me this time as I have been using some products that were very new to myself. I was very lucky to receive a selection of Crafter’s Companion and Sheena Douglas goodies. I have had a play with them all and have made a card and a couple of samples to show you how versatile and beautiful the products are.
The items I received are:
  • Sheena by Sheena Douglas Blowing in the wind 3D embossing folder
  • Sheena by Sheena Douglas Autumn leaves 3D embossing folder
  • “Countess crown” Die’sire edge’ables die
  • Luxury matt mirri card “flutterby collection” in mauve, dusky pink, turquoise and midnight blue
  • Trio of wings die
  • Colourtint “nature” by spectrum noir
For the first card I used:
  • The trio of wings die set
  • Blowing in the wind 3D embossing folder
  • Luxury matt mirri card in midnight blue, turquoise, dusky pink and mauve
  • Dawn Bibby shimmer card
  • Dawn Bibby quick stick glue
  • Dawn Bibby pointed resin gems in AB
  • Craft buddy AB gems
  • Pinflair glue gel
I made the card:
  1. I started by running the embossing folder through the Gemini machine using the turquoise card. I cut to size and then matted onto the midnight blue.
  2. I then cut to size and made the card base from the shimmer card and placed the matt onto it.
  3. I die cut the butterflies out in the mauve, midnight blue and dusky pink and layered up to make it look 3D. I glued the butterfly to the front of the card and added AB gems to the central part of the butterfly.
  4. I added AB pointed resin gems to the centre of the large dandelion clocks.
  5. I also added smaller AB gems to the corner of the card.
For the second sample I used:
  • Sheena’s autumn leaves 3D embossing folder
  • Spectrum noir “nature” colourtint pencils
  • Daler Rowney mixed media A5 paper
  • Water brush
I did this sample by:
  1. Running the embossing folder through the Gemini using a sheet of the mixed media card.
  2. I then coloured the image in using the Spectrum Noir pencils and a water brush.
  3. I used various shades in order to create shading and depth.
For the third sample I used:
  • Dawn Bibby A festive woodland clear stamp set
  • Daler Rowney mixed media paper
  • Water brush
  • Gathered twigs distress oxide
I did this sample by:
  1. I stamped the stag image out onto the mixed media paper.
  2. Using the Spectrum Noir pencils I coloured and shaded the image in.

I have had lots of fun playing with all these products as of course I’ve not tried a lot of these previously. I have found them to be of good quality and also versatile as I’ve used them in conjunction with other products too. Hope you’ve enjoyed reading this and have found it helpful. Would love to know what you think.
See you soon
