Check out the video below for the full tutorial, and as always, enjoy!
Step by Step Tutorial:
Supplies:
Funky Fossil Designs A5 Space Cadet stamp set
Funky Fossil Designs In the Clouds stencil
Ranger Distress Oxide ink pads by Tim Holtz – Tumbled Glass, Salty Ocean and Faded Jeans
Circle dies
Blending brushes and sponge daubers
Stamping platform (optional)
Step 1
Die cut a circular card blank using a circle die on a folded card blank. Make sure to have a small amount of the die hanging over the edge of the fold so that the card retains a hinge.
Step 2
Use the same circle die to cut out a separate circular panel of white cardstock.
Step 3
Use a stamping platform or acrylic block to stamp the space cadet image in the centre of the cardstock in black ink.
Step 4
Stamp the image out a second time on sticky notes or a masking sheet and cut out to create a mask. Apply the mask over the stamped image.
Step 5
Use a blending brush (or your preferred ink blending tool) lightly over the circular card panel in the lightest blue (Tumbled Glass). Apply the ink gently as it only needs to soften the crisp white of the cardbase.
Step 6
Use the In the Clouds stencil across the circular card panel in different shades of blue. Applying the ink with a sponge dauber enables more precise application of colour across the cloud line. Turn the stencil around to create variation in the cloud lines. Work over the masked stamp image down to the bottom of the circle.
Step 7
Remove the mask to reveal the stamped image. Add some pops of colour with your preferred medium. I have used Distress Oxides in Picked Raspberry, Twisted Citron and Mustard Seed but you could use any watercolours or coloured pencils. NB – if you are planning to add colour with alcohol markers you will need to stamp the image with a different ink like Memento which will not react to the alcohol.
Step 8
Stamp the sentiment below the focal point as shown and add some further inking around the circle to define the edges.
Step 9
Adhere the circle panel to the cardfront. You can snip a thin sliver of card from the base of the card to give the circle more stability when standing.
