I have recently been sent a collection of stamps from Daisy Mae designs and oh my word, I have had so much fun using these. The images are gorgeous and have so much detail.
I have said before I am not a stamper and I am definitely not a colourist, but these stamps have ignited my desire to learn. And even I have managed to create something with them. I think they are perfect for beginners. I will definitely be creating more projects with these stamps.
This is the first card I made using the collection. The collection also included a 6×6 paper pack, embossing folders and gingham card from Carole’s Crafts. The only extras I have added are a length of ribbon and a wooden button. The designs are perfect for spring cards as I think we’re all a bit done with Christmas now
The stamps stamp perfectly first time. I have used distress inks and a water brush to add some colour.
To make this card you will need:
7×7 card blank
White card
Daisy Mae badger with umbrella stamp
Patterned card
Patterned paper
Blank ink pad
Acrylic block
Distress inks
Water brush
Ribbon
Button
Nuvo drops
To begin I prepared my card base by layering patterned card and paper as shown. As is usual for me I distressed the edges with scissors.
Using a Stayz on ink pad I stamped the image onto smooth white card. If you’re going to be colouring your stamped images you need to use a permanent ink otherwise the stamped image will bleed when you add your colour. Versafine is also another good ink to use for this. I adore this image and it could be used for so many different occasions.
I then added my colour in random washes using a water brush with a selection of distress inks. It is purposely not supposed to look neat. I then added Nuvo drops to each rain drop to add some texture.
Before mounting the image onto the card front, I stamped the sentiment along the bottom. I then added a piece of ribbon to the centre of the card and added the image. To finish I added a bow and a wooden button.
I know it’s not perfect, but I have honestly loved every minute of using these stamps.
I have added another card I have made using the hot air balloon stamp from this collection. I think you will be seeing more projects with these stamps from me!
