Welcome back to the Hochanda blog.  Yesterday I promised I would give another take on the heart wreath stamp from Chloe.  When buying craft supplies, it’s important to attempt to get different finishes, and therefore get real value for money – I think this is why I enjoy stamping so much.  Just this one stamp has given me so many idea’s.  And let’s face it, that can sometimes be our stumbling block.

For this card I also used the snowflake background stamp from Chloe.  This is a very pretty stamp, and the snowflakes are so delicate yet intricate.  First I used my Versamark ink pad.  The versamark pad is one all stampers should own.  You can use it with your embossing powders or your mica powders – but it also acts as a “watermark” pad.  This means, it will produce a watermark effect when stamped on your card.  This creates a lovely background, subtle and sophisticated.

This doesn’t work on all card, you will find if a card has a coating the ink will not penetrate the card.  You can leave the ink as so, or you can use embossing powder on top, or mica powders.  Mica will give it a very subtle sheen:

I wanted to use the watermarked card, but wanted to overstamp and emboss with gold embossing powder.  If I had done this directly on my background card, the embossing powder would stick to my versamark – so I dusted the background card with talc.  I inked my heart with versamark, and stamped onto my background card.  I covered it with embossing powder.

The edge of the card has been inked using distress inks, and then I have splashed it with water.  Allow the water to effect the ink, which only takes a few moments, and then soak up the excess water with kitchen paper – lifting the water off directly.  This lifts some of the colour, and gives a faux bleach effect.

The edge is red Brilliance ink.  I love these ink pads, and haven’t actually used them in quite sometime – yet they are still lovely and juicy.  I edged directly onto the card, and then worked the ink in a little with a dry baby wipe.

I added Cosmic Shimmer red PVA, and stickles glitter glue, then twine, ribbon and a lovely heart and star in the middle of my heart.

Matting and layering onto brown and red card, gives a rustic finish to this pretty Christmas card.
