5 Steps To Making An Art Journal
Ahead of the show, why not refresh yourself with the joy that crafting an art journal can bring. Here’s 5 steps to making a journal with some ideas to try.
1.The front cover of an art journal is chance to have fun with the design. With the altered journal kit from Prima you’ll find all various embellishments that are ideal to use. Some chipboard, resins and paper flowers will give you a starting off point.
2. Arrange them to create a focal point in the centre of the book cover. The nice thing about an Art journal project is that you can play around with the composition until you’re happy with the way it looks.
3. When it comes to the different types of pages within the journal, try to use a mixture. By using some that are transparent you can put your own art journaling papers or with canvas pages that you can alter.
4. Create some texture in the background of the page. To do this you can use some modelling paste and apply through a stencil using a silicon brush.
5. Once the paste dries, add some type of colourful medium like paint or spray. This enables the texture to stand out. It’s also a good idea to heat set the page when you’ve finished applying the modelling paste. You can let it air dry or use a heat tool that will dry it really quickly.
These are just a few suggestions that will help spark your creativity. Don’t forget you can also share your completed altered art journal with us on social media. We’ll love to see your completed project.
