Good afternoon, and how is everyone today. Today, after a raid of the craft samples, I decided to have a experiment with MDF again, but this time I have picked the snowflakes. I really like these, they make wonderful gifts, decorations or gift tags. And MDF will allow you to use any type of paint, ink, paper – it allows for experimentation.
If you would like to get hold of the MDF kits I am using, just follow this link:

I began with covering my MDF with Gesso. I sponged it on, making sure I actually got bubbles in the work. When I heat set it, it gave me some lovely texture:
Looks pretty already. Now, we want to make that texture pop, so take a gilding wax, and just apply a little over the top of your snowflake. Do not work this into the gesso – you want it to just hit the top of the gesso, so it really emphasises the detail:
You can really see the sheen, but it is actually quite subtle. I would recommend the Pearl Moon, which you can get here:

I used the Cosmic Shimmer PVA on the edges of the flake, apply “blobs” of glue, and then sprinkle mica flakes, I then applied some of the Cosmic Shimmer Diamond Snow – I made sure I worked this in so it sticks to any of the patches of glue which I missed with the mica flake. I love the Diamond Snow, as it’s really subtle. Want some? Follow the link:

It's lovely to see this step by step like this, I cannot record / playback shows or use video demos so this is ideal for me!
