Crafter’s Companion are partnering with Project Linus UK to encourage readers of their quarterly kit-based magazine, Sew Inspired, to donate a finished quilt to a worthwhile cause.
Project Linus UK is a volunteer organisation who donate their time and skills to create beautiful blankets and quilts. The aim is to provide a sense of security and comfort to sick and traumatised babies, children and teenagers through the provision of new homemade patchwork quilts and knitted blankets. It gives volunteers across the UK the opportunity to contribute to their local community. A Linus quilt is as symbolic as it is simply practical, as it carries the message that someone cares.
How do you take part?
It couldn’t be easier to join us in Crafter’s Companion’s Quilt-along. Tune into their Sew Inspiring One Day Special live at Hochanda on Saturday 23rd February at 6pm to buy your issue 11 of Sew Inspired. Create a fabulous sampler quilt over the next four issues of Sew Inspired and by issue 14, you’ll have completed the quilt.
You can then donate this fabulous quilt along with any other quilts or blankets you’ve made to Project Linus UK. It’ll join the 2,000 others that are donated across the UK each month. Project Linus have volunteers up and down the country who will take the finished quilts and sew a label into it, so the recipients will know exactly what kind-hearted person it came from.
Don’t forget to help spread the word by sharing photos of your finished quilt through the hashtag #Quilt4Kindness.
