Hello again everyone! Little memory books are very popular at the moment and I’ve got a really quick and easy way of making one, perfect if you’re a beginner and a bit daunted at the thought of making one.
This project only takes about an hour to make and uses basic supplies.

What you will need:

  • 5 sheets of kraft card
  • Sara’s signature shabby chic paper pad from Crafter’s Companion
  • Scoring board (I use ultimate pro)
  • Layering dies
  • Embellishments of your choice
  • Ribbon
  • Lace
  • Glue
  • Die cutting machine

How to make it:

Cut a piece of kraft card to measure 7×10 3/4 inches and score at 5 1/4 & 5 ½ inches on score board. This will be the spine of the book.
Place some double sided tape along the spine you have created. I used red liner tape.

Cut a second piece of kraft card to measure 7×10 1/4  inches and score at 5 & 5 1/4 inches
Sit this smaller piece into the spine.
This is the basis of the memory book and it’s now ready to be decorated.

First of all, make 2 side pockets to fit photo tags inside.
To make the side pockets, cut 2 pieces of kraft card to measure 3x 81/2 inches then score with the long side at the top at ¾ & 7 3/4inches, turn so short side at top and score at 2 ¼ inches.
Burnish the score lines and cut the corners away as shown.

Glue the edges down to form the pockets.
Decorate with a piece of patterned paper and cut a thumb hole in the top edge.
I would have used a circle punch to do this but mine is missing!!

Glue to the long edge of the pages of your choice.
Cut 2 squares of kraft card with layering dies and cut 4 slightly smaller layers of patterned paper to fit on either side. Glue the patterned paper in place and punch a hole in each square and thread with twine to make a tag. The tags can be used as photo mounts and sit inside the side pockets (I call these brag tags).

Before decorating the front and back pages, glue a length of cream satin ribbon to each page then cover with backing paper. The lengths of ribbon are the fastenings.

The remaining pages can be decorated as you wish…there are no rules. Each page needs mounts for photos and I’ve used a variety of square and circular mounts for added interest.
It’s then up to you how you decorate the front cover, there are no rules. I’ve used flowers, ribbon, lace & MDF shapes.

Thanks for popping by.
Leanne x
