Kathryn Sturrock
Tell us a little about yourself!
Hi everyone, I’m Kathryn! My crafting journey started many years ago when my children were small. I found Polymer clay and built up a little business, working from home creating cake toppers and gifts. The business grew and I opened a little shop selling many different craft items. I ran workshops and eventually I was asked to design for a papercraft company. My Sugar Buttons brand was born and this led to my TV debut! Many doors have since opened (and closed) but I am so happy to now find myself a full time presenter, demonstrator and supplier at Hochanda.
What have been your highlights since you joined Hochanda?
Taking part in the 4th birthday event in 2019 as this was my very first year as a full time presenter. Filming the part of Alice In Wonderland was so much fun! Speaking of, there are huge plans for our 5th birthday event, so be sure to keep an eye out for that!
Have you explored any new crafts or techniques recently?
I love all crafts and I will try anything and everything! I am particularly in to upcycling and transforming objects which many would discard as rubbish. There are so many amazing products available on Hochanda that assist in upcycling and transformations such as the moulds and various clays as well as various paints and mediums.
Do you have a tip for a new crafter?
Don’t overthink anything! Just have fun and do what makes you happy. Look for objects and utensils around your home to make use of as it is surprising what you can utilise!
Can you tell us any backstage secrets?
A lady never tells! 😃 Actually… it’s funny to catch the floor managers having a little dance or sing song when they think that no one is watching. I couldn’t possibly dish any dirt though!
Check out just some of Kathryn’s personal favourite creations that she has made!
