Hello again everyone.
I have another Christmas make for you today. I love making Christmas items, this is the time when you can go all out with glitter and sparkle. I can tell you when I made this card, I had a trail of glitter right through the house…even the poor dog sparkled!
I was inspired to make a wreath card from the candy cane Edge’able die rather than using the die as it was designed. Also, the additional small dies that come with this set make perfect candy…not a calorie in sight!
These are the products I used with the addition of acetate and Chloe’s WOW embossing powders:
7X7 card blank
Craft perfect in Ruby red
Craft perfect in lucky shamrock glitter card
Craft perfect in sugar crystal glitter card
Die’sire Candy Cane Edge’able die
Nuvo diamond glitter
Nuvo scarlet red glitter
Nuvo green meadow hexagons
Just Right Vintage Christmas Ornaments stamp set
Heat resistant acetate
Selection of Stamps by Chloe’s WOW embossing powders
To begin I drew a circle using a die onto some white card. I then used this as a guide for stamping the Holly branches form the bauble set.
I randomly stamped and embossed the branches in different directions. I used forest pine and hot chocolate embossing powders. I also stamped and embossed some of the branches onto acetate, these were fussy cut and used to build up the wreath.
Next, I stamped and embossed the small bauble from the stamp set onto acetate.
I then die cut the candy cane Edge’able die onto Tonic craft perfect mirror card. This card is literally perfect for die cutting. When using intricate dies, the waste pieces release easily.
Once die cut I cut the candy cane from the piece and glued this onto Tonic glitter card as shown below. Once attached this was also fussy cut.
With the Edge’able die you also get small dies that cut in the shape of striped candy.
I cut around the shape of the die and then also glued these to the glitter card. These then looked like Christmas candy.
To complete the card, I embossed a piece of craft perfect mirror card and layered with a smaller piece of craft perfect glitter card. The craft perfect card also embossed beautifully and there is no cracking. I only had an A5 embossing folder so had to emboss in more than one pass through the machine but as I was layering glitter card on top it doesn’t matter that it wasn’t perfect. I mounted the wreath layer onto this.
I added berries to the holly branches by sprinkling tonic perfect sheen glitter onto dots of PVA glue.
Once everything was layered together I randomly dotted PVA glue over the white space and added tonic green sequins and because there wasn’t enough glitter, I edged the wreath layer with glue and then sprinkled with the Nuvo diamond glitter. I always use this glitter when wanting to imitate snow.
The card is now ready for the Christmas sentiment of your choice.
I hope this has inspired you to think outside of the box with your dies, as you don’t need to use them as they were designed.
Thanks for popping by.
