The summer garden party!
August has crept up and we now find ourselves in the middle of summer, school holidays have begun and it’s time to make the most of your garden.
Grow your own herbs to flavour your BBQ meat! Get the drinks chilling and the BBQ flaming… We have a BBQ herb pack that will get you growing your own fresh herbs that will bring your BBQ meat bursting with fresh flavour!
Pick strong, long stems off your Rosemary plant, then strip the leaves off (leave to one side) and soak the strong long stalks over night. Take the stems out of the water to skewer meat/veg onto the rosemary sticks for yummy kebabs.
Finely chop the rosemary leaves, sprinkle onto lamb chops with sea salt and pepper along with a drizzle of honey then grill or BBQ.
Finely chop a handful of sage leaves and mix into apple sauce, season with salt & pepper. Rub this mix into pork chops and let marinade overnight for a more intense flavour. BBQ or grill and serve with crushed new potatoes.
Create a tropical vibe in the garden and keep your holiday memories fresh! Plant palms in big containers and place around your patio to create that holiday vibe. Check out our fan palms on the shows this weekend for more ideas.
Hibiscus plants are a fantastic way to create your own little holiday memory space in the garden too. With their exotic, vibrant blooms you’ll be sure to get your holiday mood back. Plant in large containers and place on a sunny terrace or plant in full sun in the border. Full sun is the key to getting neighbour envy blooms!
Want to keep your summer holiday tan a little longer?
Grow your own lavender to make your own natural body scrub!
Lavender is a lovely aromatic evergreen shrub that adds colour & scent to any garden. Bees and butterflies love it, it’s low maintenance, flowers throughout the whole summer… Even into autumn and you can use it not only in cooking, but also for handmade beauty products.
Lavender body scrub recipe
Mix a handful of dried lavender with 3-4 handfuls oatmeal & 2 tblsp epsom salts, store in an airtight container. Rub all over moistened skin, then rinse off for silky smooth finish! Add in a teaspoon of honey for extra moisture. You could use this in the bath too, rinse off the scrub into your bath water to allow the lavender oils and salts to infuse into the water for a spa-style bath!
We have Lavender 24 packs on offer this weekend, why not buy a pack to share among friends or just fill your garden with low maintenance, high scent and powerful colour for many years to come!
