We have a wonderful new addition to the Hochanda Blog family. Sharon Holden is joining the ambassador team and will be sharing with us her years of crafting knowledge. We asked her a few questions to get to know her a little better. Here’s what she had to say…

Tell us a little bit about yourself
Hi, my name is Sharon Holden and I am 45 years old. I live with my husband Glenn and cat Buttons. I don’t work due to suffering from M.E. but manage to craft to keep myself occupied. I have been an avid crafter since being in my early 20s but started off colouring, knitting and embroidery when very young, my mum and gran taught me. I absolutely love crystal art, papercrafting, card making, mixed media, stamping, colouring, jewellery making, embroidery and knitting. I am a brand ambassador for Craft Buddy and also a member of the Crystal Art design team, both of which I am very proud to be part of. I adore all things crafty and I hope that by joining  Hochanda as a blog ambassador I can pass on some of my hints and tips to inspire all of you too. I look forward to sharing my projects with you.
How did you first get into crafts? Can you remember the very first thing you made?
I first got into crafting when I was very young, my mum and gran encouraged me and taught me how to knit, sew and embroider. I have also always loved colouring in. The very first items I made were on Hessian and made with felt.

Where do you get inspiration for new projects from?
I get my inspiration from all kinds of different places! I look at the seasons and what colours suit that particular season. I also watch alot of crafting programmes on Hochanda which encourages me to learn and try new techniques.
What crafting achievement are you most proud of?
My most proud crafting achievement has to be being asked to be a member of the design team at crystal art and also being asked to be a brand ambassador at Craft Buddy, both are huge highlights in my life. Not only have I achieved this I have met so many amazing new like minded people and such special friends along the way.

What new skill would you love to learn?
I would like to master crochet. I have never been able to quite grasp it after the first row. Also pottery and clay moulds is another I’d like to try, combine them within my card making perhaps.
Have you got any handy tips you could share with our members?
A handy tip I always use within my crafting is never stick anything down until you are 100% sure, that way you are happy with the layout and mistakes can be avoided. Above all else I say have fun and enjoy experimenting, never be afraid to try something new.
What type of posts can we expect to see from you?
You can expect anything from card making to mdf, from jewellery to mixed media to stamping and colouring and using distress inks and oxides. I would love to share my passion of crafting with everyone else and hopefully help people along the way, I also hope to learn from everybody else too.

  3. Loved seeing your old project, very cute giraffe. The crystal art picture must have taken so long but it really looks amazing. I am also trying to master crochet, but it is harder than it looks 🦒
