Hello everyone, I hope you are well? Today I’m sharing with you these treat boxes I have made using the Sizzix Milk Carton die. Now I’m going to be honest with you all, and tell you that I have massively struggled with this die. I consider myself to be an experienced die cutter, however I’ve had great difficulty forming these boxes – it does take practice.

The die cuts perfectly. The issue is the score lines. I am used to crisp score lines that are easy to fold, you do not get this with this die.

Using my Gemini, I have tried straight forward cutting, cutting then embossing and cutting into the metal shim and still had difficulty getting the score lines to crease. I have also tried numerous weights of paper and card from pattered paper to mirror card and had the same problems. What I can tell you is that it definitely does not work with mirror card.

To make these boxes I have used:

Sizzix Milk Carton die

Just Right Vintage Christmas Ornament stamps

Just Right Congrats card basics stamps

Tonic pure sheen glitter-scarlet red

Stamps by Chloe Wow embossing powders

Baker’s twine

Embossing ink pad

Heat tool

Die cutting machine

To begin I cut the box from kraft card. I used my metal shim and sent it back through my Gemini to emboss the fold lines to help them crease more easily.

To decorate the boxes, I stamped and heat embossed a bauble onto each panel. I have to say I am completely in love with these stamps. I have never used Just Right stamps before and I have to say they stamp beautifully. The Vintage bauble set are foam mounted red rubber. I also used Chloe’s Wow embossing powder and sadly the photos do not show you the level of sparkle you get from these powders and none of the stamped detail is lost.

Luckily with this die there are instructions regarding where to put tape to make up the box, without these it would be difficult to work out. I used red liner tape to make up my boxes.

To decorate the boxes, I stamped and embossed the large bauble onto kraft card and heat resistant acetate again using Chloe’s wow embossing powders. Also included in the bauble set are a set of holly branches which are opposites. I also stamped and embossed these onto heat resistant acetate. Once everything was stamped and embossed I then fussy cut them out. I love fussy cutting and the best thing about having stamped onto acetate is that you don’t need to be too precise as the edge is difficult to see. Stamping and embossing onto acetate is one of my new favourite techniques as it seems to highlight the sparkle of the embossing.

To add holly berries to the branches I dotted some glue onto the branches and sprinkles with the Tonic glitter as shown below.

I added the word celebrate from the congrats stamps the centre of the kraft bauble as shown. These are polymer stamps and I was amazed at how deep the stamps were. They stamped perfectly first time and cling perfectly to your stamping block.

To complete the box, I wrapped a length of baker’s twine around the box, punched a hole into each of the baubles and threaded them onto the twine. Using hot glue, I then attached a pair of holly branches to the back of each tag.

I think these would be perfect for table gifts and instead of adding the word ‘celebrate’ to the centre of the bauble you could add the name of your guests.

Join me next time for more Christmas makes.
