Confessions of a Craftaholic #6 by Leanne McAlpine

Hello everyone, I hope you are all well and have had a lovely summer? Where has this year gone? If you’re like me and get paid monthly, it’s only 4 paydays until Christmas!!
It’s that time again already for me to give you an insight in to my crafty shenanigans! Now last time we spoke I was still planning on sorting out my stash…well you’ll never guess what…I’ve only gone and done it! It took me the best part of 4 days to sort and I’ll be honest it was one of them projects that I really wish I hadn’t started! I found stuff I had been looking for for ages, stuff I forgot I had and some things I’m ashamed to say I had never opened… including die sets!!
Now prepare yourself for the following photos. This is just the content of the 5 drawers I have commandeered in the kitchen. This does not include all the things I have stashed in various locations around the house!!

Some of the things I’ve never used I’m going to try and sell… then I can buy more stuff! Others I’m going to give to charity.
On a serious note, what shocked me more than this was the amount of plastic packaging that was used. Every die set comes in plastic packaging but more shocking than this for me was embellishment sets I had bought. Each quantity of the same embellishment was packaged in a plastic bag, yet the whole set would come in a cardboard box that can be recycled… why do this? I think this is something that the craft industry should look at as we all have a responsibility to do our bit! The amount of plastic bags I disposed of was shameful.
Anyway, you’ll be pleased to know my supplies are now, for the minute, tidy and I know where everything is. I did however have to use one of the drawers solely for storing dies. I have however bought myself more magnetic storage sheet from Craft Price Drop and I’m in the process of storing them properly.
How are you all doing preparing your Christmas makes? I haven’t even started yet and that is really unusual for me as making Christmas themed items is one of my favourite things to do. I haven’t even brought any new Christmas craft items this year… yet… I’m sure that will change! Although I’m doing well with my no spending (don’t tell Hochanda), I’ve only bought a couple of things that I actually needed. However, Tonic’s 17th birthday celebrations are coming up. I’ve seen the brochure and every time I open my purse I can hear my credit card whimper… If I’m going to continue to be good at not buying, this is going to take a lot of self-control! And I’m sure I’m not going to be the only one. Having said that, I am looking forward to the Create It event at Gateshead stadium on 8th September and will be allowing myself to buy that day as it is my birthday, so I’m allowed a treat!
Thanks for popping by
Until next time, happy crafting.
Leanne
