We’ve got such an exciting One Day Special coming up for you on Thursday 24th November from Imagination Crafts! We’re so excited that we asked Sue to put together a beautiful step-by-step project using the fabulous Sparkle Mediums.
- Imagination Crafts Medium and Small Poinsettia Stencil
- Imagination Crafts Sparkle Medium Merlot Red and Vine Leaf Green
- Imagination Crafts Just Pearls Champagne
- Imagination Crafts Stencil Tape
- Imagination Crafts Spatula
- Red Card
- White Card
- Christmas Greeting
- Double Sided Foam Pads
- Double Sided Sticky Tape
To create your card first of all tape the medium sized Poinsettia to a piece of white card and using a spatula spread Vine Leaf Green Sparkle Medium on to the top leaves of the Poinsettia, followed by Red Merlot to the petals of the flower. When you are applying several colours of Sparkle Medium it is easier to start at the top of the design and work your way across and down using alternate colours. I find it easier to do it this way than trying to do one colour first and then the other colour. If you are nervous use your stencil tape and mask off the other areas when you start and unmask them as you go.
Take your time when you are applying more than one colour and carefully apply small amounts of the medium to each area so the colours stay separate. You may also find it easier if you also mask off the smaller flower before you begin.
Remove the Stencil and put the Poinsettia image aside to let it dry.
Using the Vine Leaf Green Sparkle Medium spread it over 3 of the leaves, put aside to dry.
Note: You can speed up drying with a hair dryer or put on to a warm radiator.
Meanwhile cut a rectangular aperture out of some red card.
Cut another rectangle out of white card a size up from the red aperture so that it frames the red aperture and also forms a frame that you are going to stick onto the red card.
Stamp and emboss (or die cut) a Christmas Greeting to go inside your card (see picture).
Mat and layer it onto red card.
When the Poinsettia and Leaves are dry cut them out with a white border around the edge.
To assemble the card, using foam pads mount the white frame onto the outside of the red card.
Using double side tape stick the greeting inside the card so that it shows through the aperture.
Assemble the Poinsettia and Leaves as in the picture and stick onto the bottom left hand corner of the card so that the flower overhands the frame, using double sided foam pads so that they don’t show when you open the card.
Finish the card by applying tiny pearls from the Just Pearls about the leaves. Allow Pearls to dry for several hours.
